Our Favorite Gingerbread Story

This week we read books that had to do with gingerbread. Honestly, I had no idea how many there were out there! We read The Gingerbread Man, The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Baby, Gingerbread Friends, The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers, and The Gingerbread Cowboy. We talked about how these books were alike and how these books were different. On Friday, the students had to vote on their favorite book.
Here are the results..

Here are the books spread out on the front board.
Each student took a post it note and wrote the title
of the book they liked the most.
They stuck the post it note above that book.
It turned into a great graphing lesson and it
just so happens the math chapter
we begin on Monday is all about graphs!

Lilly, Faith, Alivia, and Mallory vote for
The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers.

Michael votes for The Gingerbread Man. This led us to a nice little discussion about standing up for what you believe in even if you are the only one. Some of the groups tried to sway Michael to their side so the book they chose would win the vote but Michael stayed strong. Way to go Michael!

                                                 Jeremy, Claire, Lacie, and Norah
                                                 vote for The Gingerbread Baby.

                                                       Gabby and Kendal vote
                                                       for Gingerbread Friends.

                                                         Brennan and Sydney vote
                                                        for The Gingerbread Girl.

And the winner is....
The Gingerbread Cowboy!
Ryan, Chris, Calista, Luke, Gabriel, and
Maddie vote for The Gingerbread Cowboy.

We all enjoyed reading these books very much!
I'm glad that they didn't want my vote because
I would have had a tough time choosing just one!
